Competition Information
There are two basic techniques that make up the field of Cross-Country Skiing for the Alberta Winter Games. The first, Classic Cross-Country Skiing, entails competitors utilizing thin skis in a back-and-forth motion in a groomed track system to move forward. The winner is the athlete who crosses the finish line in the least amount of time. The second style of skiing is Skate Skiing, this entails forward motion by pushing your skis in a side-to-side motion, thereby ‘skating’ across the snow. The winner of the race is the athlete who crosses the finish line in the least amount of time.
