Wapiti Nordic

Biography

Wapiti Nordic is an outdoor wilderness gem located 14 km south of Grande Prairie, Alberta.  We have 35 km of ski trails groomed for classic and skate skiing, a cross-country stadium, a biathlon stadium, and a biathlon range.  Our two-story heated lodge with waxing facilities in the basement is a legacy from the Canada Winter Games in 1995.  The Wapiti Nordic Ski Club averages 700 members per year.
For adult and masters skiers, we offer beginner and intermediate classic and skate ski lessons taught by CANSI certified instructors.  We have a very active “Chicks on Sticks” recreational ski program with twice-weekly group skis that have been running for nearly 20 years.  We also offer a co-ed recreational group ski once a week.  There are several masters skiers who participate in our biathlon program and compete at the Calforex Cups.  Many of our masters skiers also compete in events such as the Canadian Birkebeiner.  Wapiti Nordic hosts the Sveinungsguaard Loppet each year and also puts on a duathlon event (ski and snowshoe).
